The Pitch Tent: Pioneering Adventure Finalists Announced

With the Pitch Tent proving to be a standout feature at last year’s Blue Earth Summit event, 2022 sees the addition of the brand new category, ‘Pioneering Adventure’.

Presented by online publishing and events platform, Adventure Uncovered, this category offers non-profit organisations and pioneering explorers the opportunity to pitch an adventure with purpose to gain financial backing or logistical support from a room full of potential sponsors and investors.

Providing a platform for adventure that is open to all, from amateurs to professionals of any background, the ‘Pioneering Adventure’ category aims to break down traditional barriers to entry, with the only requirement being a robust plan for an ambitious adventure that’s never been attempted before.

“We’re incredibly excited to be involved in the inaugural Adventure pitch tent at the Blue Earth Summit” says James from Adventure Uncovered. “Huge credit to the organisers for providing a breakthrough platform for purpose-driven adventures to (finally) move from the margins to the mainstream!”

With the category requirements kept broad to encourage a wide variety of ambitious plans and ideas, we were inundated with a host of incredible applications. From microadventures to exploration mavericks, plans and ideas for exciting expeditions and feats of endurance certainly pushed the boundaries of possibility within the great outdoors.

After a very tough selection process with over 100 applicants, we’re delighted to announce a shortlist of four finalists.

  1. Dr Alex Dehgan – Lead an expedition to try to find one of the world’s most elusive animals, the Tasmanian Tiger.
  1. Felix Daglish – Quadriplegic solo cycling Dorset to the Orkney Islands using a Berkel bike.
  1. Russ Cook – Aiming to be the first person to run across Africa, North to South. 360 marathons over 16 countries in just 240 days.
  1. Mairead Cahill – Cross the UK on foot, bicycle, train and boat to highlight the most powerful, nature-based solutions driving positive impact for people and planet.

“I am absolutely thrilled and delighted to hear that I have been selected as a finalist for the pioneering adventure category! I’m looking forward to meeting sustainable brands who are keen to join me in helping drive environmental awareness and support female-led adventure and entrepreneurship” says finalist, Mairead Cahill.

The four finalists will be taking to the stage on Tuesday 11th October at the Blue Earth Summit to pitch their incredible pioneering adventure plans.
