BES’23: The Pitch Tent Highlights
Every year we invite the world’s most up and coming purpose-led businesses to apply to be part of the Blue Earth Summit Pitch Tent, to find, fund and scale businesses that are providing solutions to some of the world’s most complex problems.
Offering the opportunity to be spotlighted as one of the top high growth, high impact companies positively disrupting their industry, over 1,000 applications spanning both impact sectors and stage applied. 100 ventures were then selected to be named in our BE100, a hand-picked list of the most progressive companies with the potential to deliver long term business success.
Of the top 100, 30 companies were chosen by the advisory board to pitch their businesses, products and concepts live at the Summit. This culminated in a dynamic display of innovative solutions geared towards supporting today’s most complex challenges, with the top six selected to pitch in the final; Allye Energy, Waterhaul, Ripple Energy, Grubby, Enso Tyres and Waterbear.
Among the judges for the final were John Lake from Seedrs, Caroline Thomson from Natwest, Joe Hill from JCDecaux Nurture and Angel Investor, Tamara Hill Norton (Exited Founder – Sweaty Betty).
Waterbear took home the People’s Choice Award, while all six received valuable intent for investment from leaders in the audience.
From this year’s cohort, there is an intent to raise £537m+ with an average raise of £1.2m per business. Leveraging the support of the 233 investors in attendance who collectively manage £10 billion in AUM, the Ventures Team aims to facilitate meaningful investments that will drive these businesses toward ultimate fundraising success.
