Algenie was founded by a former technology lead at v2food, Australia’s leading plant-based meat company, where the founder developed an algal pigment that authentically reddened meat. While the innovation worked brilliantly, one problem persisted: algae was too expensive to scale.
That challenge sparked a new mission, to make algae production as cheap as crude oil. If achieved, this breakthrough would redefine the foundation of global industry, enabling a shift from petrochemical dependency to carbon-negative bioproducts that actively remove CO₂ as they’re made.
Today, algenie is building the infrastructure and processes for a truly circular, algae-powered economy. Its proprietary technology unlocks high-volume, low-cost cultivation of microalgae, enabling its use in everything from food and packaging to fuels and industrial materials.
The mission is clear: to make large-scale algae production affordable, accessible, and climate-positive.
