Cellcraft was founded at the University of Cambridge by Yash Mishra and Clarisse Beurrier, two scientists who bonded over their shared passion for animal welfare, sustainability, and the future of food. What began as student activism against industrial farming evolved into a scientific mission: to reinvent meat production through cell biology and automation, ensuring that nutrition and pleasure never come at the expense of animals or the planet.
With deep expertise in bioprocess engineering, AI, and automation, the team is developing scalable, modular “Cellcraft Farms” — self-contained production systems that allow meat producers to cultivate clean meat locally, dramatically reducing supply chain dependence, emissions, and waste. Their model empowers countries like Singapore, which rely heavily on meat imports, to achieve greater food security and self-sufficiency, while generating new green jobs and local economic growth.
Co-founder Yash Mishra (CEO) brings a decade of biochemical engineering experience and academic leadership from UCL and Cambridge, while Clarisse Beurrier (CSO) is an impact investor and author of the Automation and AI chapter in the world’s first cultivated meat textbook. Together, they are building the infrastructure for a new global protein economy.
Cellcraft’s mission is to democratise access to cultivated meat, creating a just and inclusive food transition that leaves no one behind. Its vision is a world where sustainable protein is locally produced, ethically made, and accessible to all — powering a circular food system that supports communities, reduces carbon, and restores balance between people, animals, and the planet.
