Fairman Knight and Sons UK
Scale
Founded in 2023 in Lincolnshire’s agricultural heartland, Fairman Knight and Sons UK Limited is pioneering large-scale, sustainable agriculture through black soldier fly (BSF) bioconversion. By transforming 300,000 tonnes of organic waste annually into regenerative products — including frass fertiliser, insect protein, bio-oil, and RSPB-endorsed Calci worms — the company is reducing methane emissions, enhancing soil health, and creating profitable circular systems.
Led by CEO Julian Knight, a veteran of environmental finance and RAF operations, and co-founder William Fairman, a third-generation farmer, the company blends deep agricultural heritage with modern innovation. Its mission is to support the UK’s net-zero goals while proving that sustainability and profitability can coexist. With ambitions to scale across the UK and globally by 2030, Fairman Knight aims to process 3 million tonnes of waste annually, generate £500 million in revenue, and eliminate 300,000 tonnes of CO₂e each year, setting a new benchmark for sustainable insect farming and regenerative agri-innovation.
