QiO Technologies was founded a decade ago by Baz Khuti and Rick Haythornthwaite with a shared ambition to build a purpose-driven company that helps energy-intensive industries reduce their environmental impact. Drawing on their backgrounds in technology and leadership, they recognised that while large corporations were beginning to embrace sustainability, smaller and mid-sized enterprises faced far greater challenges, from limited budgets and skills to cultural barriers.
Today, under the leadership of CEO Gary Bourton, QiO continues that founding mission by delivering AI-driven optimisation tools and digital transformation programmes that make energy efficiency both accessible and actionable. Gary brings extensive experience from his previous work helping industrial clients achieve carbon and cost reductions through smarter operations.
QiO’s purpose is to encourage and empower energy-intensive businesses to combine technology and real-world expertise to deliver better environmental and commercial outcomes. The company’s work focuses particularly on SMEs, providing the insight, tools, and support they need to accelerate energy and carbon reduction, drive resource efficiency, and enable a just and inclusive transition to net zero.
