Founded in 2022 by Martin Soltau, Sam Adlen, and David Homfray, Space Solar was created to make space-based solar power a commercial reality, a breakthrough clean energy source that provides limitless, 24/7 renewable power from orbit. The founders were motivated by key advances that made this vision viable for the first time: SpaceX’s reusable launch technology drastically reducing launch costs, Soltau’s 2020 techno-economic analysis confirming feasibility, and collaboration with the inventor of CASSIOPeiA, the world’s leading solar power satellite design.
Together, the team built a UK-led coalition of energy and space partners to accelerate adoption and drive government and industry engagement. With deep expertise in advanced energy systems, fusion research, and space programme delivery, the founders share a mission to deliver reliable, affordable energy from space for the benefit of Earth.
Space Solar envisions a future where its technology supplies a significant share of the world’s energy by 2050, transforming global prosperity, national security, and environmental sustainability.
