Speaker Bio

Alyx is Oceana’s UK Campaigns Director.

She has an academic background in environmental and animal ethics, with her undergraduate degree from the University of St Andrews and MA from the University of York. She has been campaigning her entire career, with a particular focus on wildlife protection. This has included campaigns on ghost fishing gear, animals in entertainment, wildlife crime and exotic pets. As a freelancer Alyx has also campaigned across a wider range of issues including mental health, baby loss and kinship care.

As a vegan, scuba diver and swimmer, Alyx is passionate about protecting the oceans and marine wildlife – as well as great campaigning!
