Speaker Bio

Anne is a member of the Ilkley Clean River Group, a local action group set up in 2018 to stop sewage discharges into the River Wharfe and improve its condition for both people and wildlife.  Led by Becky Malby, the group have worked tirelessly to bring the issue to the forefront, including working with the Environment Agency, Yorkshire Water, the local MP, Ofwat and others to change the game when it comes to sewage discharges and river health. The group achieved the first river Bathing Water designation in the UK for the Wharfe at Ilkley in 2020, and are now supporting countless other community groups with their own applications to improve their local bathing spot.
