Carrie Harris joined British Airways as Head of Sustainability in December 2020 and in June 2022 was appointed Director of Sustainability at the airline. She has established sustainability as a central focus of British Airways’ corporate strategy with the creation and launch of BA Better World, the airline’s sustainability programme.

With a remit covering People, Planet and Responsible Business, highlights under her leadership include the airline’s investment in hydrogen-powered aircraft, a new community investment fund, mapping the flightpath to net zero emissions including delivering the airline’s first flights powered directly by sustainable aviation fuels and the unveiling of a unique BA Better World special liveried aircraft.

Carrie joined British Airways from the airline’s parent company, International Airlines Group (IAG), where she worked as Group Sustainability Manager for five years. During her time at IAG, Carrie successfully embedded sustainability into the Group’s business activity and financial planning processes and helped to launch IAG’s Flightpath Net Zero, committing the Group to achieving net zero CO 2 emissions by 2050, a global first for an airline group and a landmark climate strategy for the aviation sector.

Carrie is a Chartered Environmentalist, Fellow of IEMA, registered environmental auditor and holds two Master’s degrees in Environmental Science and Management.
