Chief Dadá is a known indigenous chief and forest defender from the Brazilian Amazon. He lives in the municipality Santarém, Para state, Brazil. Para state has been for years Brazil’s leading deforestation state. It is known as the lawless state or the wild west of the Amazon. Chief Dadá is a known indigenous leader in the Lower Tapajos (a forest crime hotspot) and Lower Amazon. Hired gunmen tried to take his life on various occasions. He has personal police protection since more than 10 years.
