Speaker Bio

Francois Beyers, hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, spent his childhood on the beaches, surfing the waves, and diving in the kelp forests, fostering an enduring love for the ocean.

This passion for the marine world and its conservation, coupled with a desire to instill the same values in his own children, led him to co-found Câr-y-Môr. Based in St Davids, Pembrokeshire, Câr-y-Môr (For the love of the Sea) is a unique organisation that operates as an ocean farm, seafood processing business, and education outreach organisation. But more than that, it’s a Community Benefit Society dedicated to enhancing the Welsh coastline and the wellbeing of the local community.
