Does the Climate Movement Need More Coverage — or a New Story?

How do we re-tell the story of nature and our relationship with it?

On October 16th at the Blue Earth Summit, Media and Communications take the spotlight, with a series of powerful, thought-provoking sessions designed to challenge assumptions, inspire action, and reimagine the role of storytelling in shaping a sustainable future.

Highlights You Won’t Want to Miss

Laura Tobin, meteorologist and presenter at ITV, will share insights on communicating climate records through mainstream news, and the sometimes surprising public reactions to stark climate facts on primetime television. Her session will explore the power (and responsibility) of trusted media figures in shaping climate narratives.

Danielle Mulder - BBC, Julie Richards - The Guardian, and Maeve Campbell - Channel 4, Joss Ford - Enviral are among those confirmed to delve into the evolving role of major media outlets in shaping public understanding and driving change. Expect candid conversations about the challenges of balance, responsibility, and impact in climate storytelling.

For those focused on the power of brand and culture, Andy Currie, Co-founder of sustainable deodorant brand AKT, and senior representatives from Aqua Libra will speak on behaviour change - looking at how values-led businesses can inspire audiences to live more sustainably without preaching or guilt-tripping.

Robin Moore, award-winning photographer and head of communications at Re:wild, leads a provocative and much-needed session on Telling New Narratives in a Globalised World. In a media landscape dominated by Western perspectives, this session asks: whose stories are we telling, and who gets to tell them? Join him in discussion with Christabel Reed (Earthed), Filmmaker Priscila Tapojawara, and author and researcher Joycelyn Longdon

Adam Boita - Ecologi CMO asks How can we turn media attention into restoring nature at scale? To a roster of media leaders including Tim Pritchard, Head of Content and Responsible Media at MG OMD, Tracey Herald, Head of Sustainability at giffgaff, Alex d'Albertanson, Media Sustainability Project Director at Ad Net Zero, Nicky O'Malley, Founder of 30x30 UK.

The Forum culminates with a special session and drinks hosted by our friends at Purpose Disruptors, who return to Blue Earth to unveil their latest creative exhibition: Can pop culture make nature irresistible? Longtime champions of rewiring the advertising and marketing industries for the planet, they’ll offer a fresh dose of inspiration, and invite the industry to raise a glass to what’s possible when creativity meets purpose.

Whether you’re a journalist, marketer, creative, or brand leader, October 16th is your moment to be part of a new narrative. One where the media doesn’t just reflect the world—but helps to rebuild it.
