The global clothing industry is one that accounts for more than ten percent of the planet’s annual carbon emissions and over twenty percent of its annual water pollution. In the UK alone, more than 350,000 tonnes of unwanted but still wearable clothing is sent to landfill every year. Less than one percent of clothing is ever truly recycled.
Nine years ago, Rob Webbon and Guy Whitby set out to challenge this unacceptable status quo by establishing the world’s first climate positive sportswear company: Presca. For the last decade, the two have transformed their innovative creation from a part-time hobby to an established player in the global teamwear space, which today supplies climate conscious athletes at every level from amateur to world champion status. Blue Earth is immensely privileged to announce their partnership with the brand as part of this year’s summit.
When you hear Presca, you should think all things sustainability. They certainly do. From the manufacturing process to customer use to eventual disposal, Presca works to reduce the environmental impact of sportswear at every stage whilst maintaining a catalogue that boasts some of the highest performing and ethically produced apparel in the world.
As the company themself lay out, the aim is never to achieve less bad, but more good. They are doing phenomenally in this regard. In continually evaluating their fabrics to ensure that they meet the high demands of both high-end professional sportswear and an increasingly fragile environment, in guaranteeing the majority of their materials are woven from recycled materials and in pledging to take back any product that they have ever created in order to maximise its lifespan, Presca is a brand that means serious business. We cannot wait for you to meet them come October.
Alongside the rest of the team, Rob – Presca’s CEO and Head of Climate Positivity – will be joining us as a speaker. A cyclist, runner, triathlete and self-proclaimed sea shanty enthusiast, Rob’s fifteen years of experience in sustainability and environmental science and deep passion for the outdoors makes him an excellent addition to our ‘22 summit.
Presca will also be taking part in our climate crawl trail walk on day 3 of the summit. Join them as we take part in an environmentally oriented exploration of the local area. Make sure to harness your inner-scout and resurface your long buried orienteering skills alongside Presca as your climate positive knowledge is put to the test… there are prizes to be won!
If you have not already, purchase tickets now to ensure you meet Rob and the rest of Presca when they join us this autumn to share the very best of their sector knowhow and deep wealth of environmental knowledge.
