Hugo Tagholm is the Executive Director and Vice President of Oceana UK, a leading international ocean conservation organisation . Previously, he served as the Chief Executive of Surfers Against Sewage, where he pioneered initiatives such as the Plastic Free Communities movement and the Million Mile Beach Clean . A passionate surfer and environmental advocate, Hugo has been instrumental in shaping UK marine policy, driving legislative changes on plastic pollution, water quality, and climate action . He holds a Doctorate of Science from the University of Exeter for his services to the marine environment and was recognised as Environmentalist of the Year 2021 by the Save the Waves Coalition . Based in Cornwall, Hugo continues to lead efforts to protect and restore the world’s oceans.
