We kick off 2022 plans with a launch party in Bristol, a new podcast series, the first confirmed speakers and partners for the three day, purpose-led business festival in October

We are hugely proud to announce the dates for the second summit from 11th – 13th October in Bristol. Delivering an agenda-setting content programme focused on ACTION as the main theme, the summit is aimed at the over 5.6m private sector businesses and 6m+ public sector employees in the UK. Culture change and purposeful values are the key drivers.

“Based on the feedback from last year, we’re super excited to expand into 3 days with an increased depth of content, partnerships, speakers. We’re looking forward to growing this event as part of Bristol and the region’s growing cultural stature in the modern economy and wider society.”

Linley Lewis, founder of WL Group and Blue Earth Summit.

The summit aims to redefine how we live and work. The world class content programme covers all aspects of purposeful business, outdoor lifestyles, food production, land use and ocean conservation. The overarching theme of ACTION is a call to all attendees to cross-pollinate from all sectors, share their purpose in real-time at the event and for the summit to act as a lightning rod wherever people are on their regenerative journey.

2022 sees the return of some key speakers from last year including favourites Sir Tim Smit, Kresse Wesling CBE and Hugo Tagholm. Joining them are business change leaders Mike Barry and Jonathon Porritt, elite ocean racer Pip Hare, outdoor diversity leader Maxwell Ayamba, MD of Iceland Group Richard Walker, youth activist Poppy Stowell-Evans and head of River Action UK and former chairman of Teneo Charles Watson. See the accompanying speaker press release for further details and more confirmed speakers.

“We’ll invite attendees and speakers to contribute via social media screens and the event app, what they are going to do differently when they get back to their homes and offices, how they’ve stretched their targets, reached for more, what actionable insights they’ve taken away, to inspire and challenge everyone to rip up their current policies and do more than they think they can.”

Executive producer of Blue Earth Summit, Christine Cowin

Blue Earth Summit’s podcast will be featuring all the speakers, starting with the founders episode available from next week on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Global Player.

The Pitch Tent format, so successful in 2021, returns in a broader format to allow for three streams of fundraising: business, community and adventure. Applications to take part will open at the beginning of May. The 4 finalists from 2021 have gone on to raise over £15m, says Guy Hayler, Managing Partner of Wavelength Ventures:

“It is incredible what the finalists have gone on to achieve, having used the Blue Earth Summit as a platform to announce their plans for growth, market disruption and launch funding rounds. Wavelength Ventures has continued supporting these businesses and helped convert investors who attended and others in our network. The finalists have collectively raised a huge amount of money, all of which will have a positive impact on people and planet, and that is what it is all about…making it happen!”

The Wave will host day 3, one of the leading inland sporting venues in Europe and now with plans for multiple sites including London, and will feature an Outdoor Showcase. Leading brands from the outdoor industry will be coming together to allow attendees to test products and mix with speakers, company founders and athletes in a unique setting. Attendees can surf, run, cycle, climb and stretch their bodies and ideas in the company of their peers and establish new connections to fuel their plans for business and life.

Bristol is the natural home, a city of culture with historical significance and a modern view on our green future. Key organisations in and around the city are part of the event as it enjoys increasing significance nationally and internationally, with strong links to the SW business community, a foundational stone of the summit.

Tickets will be available via the website to pre-registered and 2021 attendees from 7th April for a limited period. The next release will be on the 14th May. Announcing the return of the summit this week in Bristol at the Patagonia Store, head of content and comms Steph Pomphrey firmly believes the team are onto something special:

“Putting on the year 1 event, straight out of lockdown with a first in-person event for many at the time, we really didn’t know what to expect. We were blessed with a fair wind, a can-do attitude and partner organisations who really put their resources into play. The result left a special impression on everyone and that is now shown through the great and varied support we already have in place for this year. This will enable us to go above and beyond, really establish Blue Earth as a meeting place for a wide range of communities who all believe in the power of the outdoors to inform good business practice and purposeful lifestyles.”
