Speaker Bio

Mariana Roccia is a research impact consultant for the Culture, Continuity and Transformation Research Priority Area at the University of Gloucestershire, co-convenor of the International Ecolinguistics Association, and book series co-editor of Bloomsbury Advances in Ecolinguistics.

She works with academic staff to identify potential areas of non-academic dissemination, engagement and collaborations to ensure their research is reaching a wider audience. Since 2019, Mariana has been exploring the impact of ecolinguistics on people’s lives and professional practice, and how raising awareness of the connection between language and ecology can contribute to value alignment from both professional and personal dimensions.

Mariana regularly participates in events and activities promoting awareness of the role that language plays in addressing ecological issues and encouraging action beyond academia. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, member of the British Association for Applied Linguistics and committee member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting’s Western Regional Group.
