Speaker Bio
As a Black and Green Ambassador in Bristol, I am able to champion the great work already being done to combat climate change and empower Black and Brown communities voice.
In addition to being a mother of one, I am a feminist, disabled – I have a visual impairment – and a general campaigner for equality and social justice. Bristol has been home to me since 2018, but I’m still finding my way around.
Disability equality has been the focus of my professional experience. I began my career as a support worker providing one-to-one support to people with sensory loss before moving into disability policy and research. Due to my own experience of becoming disabled, I am passionate about empowering people from under-represented groups to have their voices heard. I want our communities to be a fair, safe, and equal place to live regardless of your personal background. I am passionate about using research and people’s lived experience to drive change.
Alongside the ambassador programme I am starting a PhD looking at disabled people and employment, trying to find positive case studies of support that has helped disabled people get into or stay in work. I believe in the advocacy of Black/Brown and Disable community inclusion in increasing inclusivity in the global environmental movement and debate
