Reimagining the outdoors: how history shapes our current and future relationship with the outdoors.
The inaugural 2023 Blue Earth Lecture was given by British-Nigerian historian, BAFTA winning producer, presenter and best-selling author Professor David Olusoga OBE who laid down Britain’s complex history with the outdoors, pinpointing the year we became disconnected from nature, an urbanised population, and how this continues to influence our society today.
At Blue Earth we believe in the power of the outdoors to make positive change, to unite people, build community and to transform business. The outdoors offers us a vision for our reimagined future, a better place to be. We cannot change this history, but as businesses and organisations connected to the outdoors we can acknowledge and understand. In this poignant and informative keynote lecture David Olusoga invites us to reflect on our longstanding, and at times troubles, history with the outdoors.
