Sustainable Bites: A Transformative Food Experience at Blue Earth Summit 2024

Sustainable Bites: Food Experience at the Summit

At this year’s Blue Earth Summit, we’re excited to present our innovative food programme, carefully curated to reflect the critical discussions happening across the Summit about food systems. What we produce, how we produce it, what we eat, and who has access to it are all essential themes that will be explored on stage, and we’re ensuring our food offering is fully aligned with these values.

We’re thrilled to announce that Ali Honour will lead our onsite food programme. Representing both the Chef’s Manifesto and the Beans is How movement, part of the SDG2 Advocacy Hub, Ali is campaigning for “bringing people together to achieve good food for all.”

Ali will be hosting two interactive food workshops on Wednesday and Thursday over a live-fire setup, offering hands-on experiences to explore sustainable food practices. This space will also serve as the backdrop for our intimate campfire conversations throughout the day.

“I am closing the loop and creating a circular food system where no food goes to waste. Every meal I cook will demonstrate how a sustainable and ethical food system can thrive. By using every part of our ingredients, from skin to stalk, ensuring nothing is discarded unnecessarily. The menu highlights low-carbon, local produce that reduces emissions while supporting farmers. When local isn’t possible, I am committed to using ethically sourced, fair trade ingredients that promote regenerative farming practices,” says Ali Honour.

This ethos will extend to the exclusive Speaker Dinner and Drinks Events, hosted by Blue Earth as part of our evening programme, showcasing how sustainable food practices can be integrated into high-end event catering.

All delegates will be able to enjoy food from the Black Eats street food traders, offering five vegetarian street food options, both savoury and sweet. Black Eats “aims to inspire sustainable support for Black food and hospitality businesses, enhancing the UK’s Black food scene.” Their regular festivals are held at Woolwich Works, and we’re delighted to welcome them to this year’s Summit.

We are also taking steps to ensure that our food delivery aligns with our environmental goals. Notpla will provide environmentally friendly food packaging, and we’re grateful for the generous support of our sponsors: Waste Knot, Bold Beans, Vegetarian Express, and BaxterStorey, whose contributions have been instrumental in bringing our vision of sustainable food to life.
