Alexandra Cousteau

President & Co-Founder

Oceans 2050

Alexandra Cousteau works from a simple but demanding premise: the ocean should not merely be protected from further loss, but restored to abundance within one human generation. An award-winning advocate and granddaughter of Jacques-Yves Cousteau, she works across government, business, finance, science and civil society to convene leaders, build partnerships and develop the frameworks needed for restoration at scale. Alexandra is Co-Founder and President of Oceans 2050, which is dedicated to restoring ocean abundance within one human generation. She is also Co-Founder and Global Chair of the Blue Cities Alliance, helping coastal cities accelerate restoration through shared vision, partnership and investment, and serves as Senior Advisor to Oceana. Her work turns a celebrated family legacy towards a practical question: what would it take to make abundance, rather than managed decline, the future of the ocean?
