Economics, in Kate Raworth’s telling, has been working with the wrong picture of progress. Her Doughnut Economics framework replaces endless GDP growth with a clearer goal: meet everyone’s needs without breaching the planet’s ecological limits. First developed through her work in international development and later popularised in her bestselling book, the model is now being applied by cities, communities, educators and businesses around the world. Kate is Co-Founder and Chair of Doughnut Economics Action Lab, which keeps its tools open and collaborative so people can adapt them to place. She is also a Senior Teaching Fellow at Oxford University’s Environmental Change Institute. Kate makes systems thinking tangible by turning economics away from an abstract pursuit of growth and towards the practical design of societies that can thrive in balance with the living world.
