It is easy for us to end 2022 feeling disenchanted. Global action on climate is not radical enough. Business models failing to change quickly enough. Chaotic politics failing people and planet. Leadership…well, failing.
But for all of us inspired by the outdoors, when we feel disenchanted we must turn to the outdoors to be re-enchanted.
After the second year of hosting the Blue Earth Summit, we are starting to understand more about our diverse and active community. The outdoors inspires us to live, journey and work in a different way. We are makers and mavericks, founders and futurists, adventurers and investors. The outdoors has inspired remarkable journeys, businesses and lifestyles that energise our active community. When we meet together we share stories and experiences about what we have tested, wrestled with, failed and achieved.
But connecting us is a belief in the power of the outdoors to bring people together and transform the impact that business and active communities can have on people and planet.
Our relationship to the outdoors is not passive. It is the pool in which we go to drink. It is the source that inspires us and connects us. The outdoors is where we lose ourselves and find ourselves again.
So in 2023, how do we reimagine the power of the outdoors when humanity stands at an evolutionary crossroads?
Taking a well earned break allows us a time to pause, reflect and reimagine our futures.
So, this holiday season, step outside. Go to your place. Re-find your focus, restore your mind, reconnect with nature and give yourself time to think about what comes next.
Blue Earth Summit 2023 will continue to harness the power of the outdoors to bring people together and inspire radical change.
From the waves, the rivers, the treks and trails, together we can reimagine the power of the outdoors.
Wishing you a happy Christmas and we will see you in the new year.
